What kind of cage does a Chinchilla need? (Shopping Guide)

• I use a variety of wire cages either with wire floors or with sold bottom pull out trays.
• I recommend a cage at least 18” x 24” x 18” or larger.
• Accessories can include clay flowerpots, PVC tubes, and other objects to hide in.
• Most chinchillas love to run in a large wheel.

Bedding

• I use white pine shavings.
• Corn cob, aspen shavings, aspen shavings, or other commercial bedding is also acceptable.
• Never use cedar shavings because the oils and dust from cedar can be harmful to small mammals.
